Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 Set To Release in May
The next instalment into the illustrious partnership between Travis Scott and Nike is rumoured to be released later this month.
Images have emerged from the sneaker community platform @sneakerheadsnl (Instagram) with a more accurate release date for the highly anticipated release of the Nike Air Max 1 collaboration with the Houston rapper. While the image seemingly shows an official release date list, it is important to remember that, as of the time of writing this, these are simply rumours.
After Scott was seen wearing the ‘Baroque Brown’ colourway of the popular Air Max model midway through 2021, images of predicted colourways started to emerge, of which only two have been confirmed so far.
With 2022 marking the 35th anniversary of the legendary Air Max 1 silhouette, designed by Tinker Hatfield, that kick-started the Air Max lineage, it only made sense that Travis Scott would look to create his take on the AM1 following his cosign and collab on the Nike Dunk causing an explosion of popularity, one that is still being felt.
While the original release date of the Cactus Jack Air Max 1 was previously confirmed by Nike as the 16th of December 2021, this was pushed back to an unconfirmed time following the tragic events that occurred at the 2021 Astroworld Festival on the 5th of November.
Since that time, the release of the AM1, as well as the rapper’s collaboration on the Air Trainer 1 which shares the same release date as the Air Max, has been completely unknown with many people wondering whether they may finally roll out on Air Max Day 2022, or whether the collaboration had been cancelled completely after no further communication from Nike or any leaks surfacing online.
Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 'Saturn Gold', ETA 2022
Despite the sneakers not yet being officially released, pairs of the Baroque Brown colourway have been spotted on the second-hand market. However, finally, fans of the upcoming sneaker have a glimpse of hope at a possible release which looks to include the Baroque Brown AM1 in a full-size run in addition to the yet to be seen ‘Saturn Gold’ accompanying it in men's sizing.
While official details are yet to be confirmed by Nike directly regarding the upcoming Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1, news of Travis performing his first live performance since the tragic events in 2021 as well as rumours of the sneakers release coming shortly after hint towards the artists return to the spotlight.
