New Balance Set to Release Their Latest 2002R Pack this Month
New Balance has seen unrivalled success over the past couple of years with their range of highly acclaimed collaborations with the likes of Joe Fresh Goods and Levis on the 990 V3 as well as their GR releases after the relaunch of the classic 550 following Aimé Leon Dore's, Teddy Santis, pulling the silhouette out of the archives.
One such collaboration is with Salehe Bembury on the 2002R. With the initial orange colourway titled ‘Peace be the Journey’ arriving in October 2020 and the second iteration titled ‘Water be the Guide’ released in June 2021, the 2002R was rejuvenated after its initial release in 2010.
That same month, New Balance released the 2002R ‘Refined Future’. Also known by its unofficial name ‘Protection Pack’, the release featured three separate colourways of the sneaker, designed by New Balance employee Yue Wu. Once again, displaying New Balances exceptional materials and attention to detail, Wu’s first time designing was met with instant sellout releases further enforcing the growing hype behind the 2002R.
To follow up on the 2002R’s massive success, new images of New Balance’s next GR release has surfaced and is due for release later this month in the UK after already being released in the US.
Coming in the form of four clean colourways: blue, red, brown and green, the upcoming pack provides a minimal, layered, upper with the usual simple NB branding sitting atop an off white midsole to give a vintage touch.
While the official release date is yet to be announced, the green colourway seems to be the pair of choice after selling out almost instantly overseas.
