Further Images Surface of the Upcoming Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 9060 Collaboration

Joe Freshgoods seems to be hitting constant home runs with New Balance over the past two years. Starting the ongoing partnership with his take on the 992 in 2020 titled ‘No Emotions Are Emotions’ which was met with high critical acclaim. Followed up by his 2021 collaboration on the 990 V3 titled ‘Outside Clothes’ which was similarly met topping many peoples sneaker of year lists, JFG is back with New Balance for their third release, with new images suggesting it’s going to be utilising their new 9060 silhouette. 

With official images yet to arise of the New Balance 9060 as a silhouette, images from @sneakerhumanoid1982 on Instagram suggest that the new addition to the New Balance lineage seems to take the upper from the 990 V3 sitting atop a brand new outsole with a chunky, Balenciaga Triple S look. 

Freshgoods seems to be a professional at teasing upcoming releases and keeping people waiting in the wings for any details they can get on his next steps. Initially posting a picture of the shoeboxes for the new release on the 4th of January, fans instantly started to speculate as to what the sneaker would be and more importantly, look like, with some assuming it would be another 990 V3 as the teddy in the background was seen wearing a triple black pair.

A following tweet on the first of February simply read ‘550’. Whether this is alluding to a fourth NB collaboration releasing later in the year is yet to be confirmed. 

However, finally, the curtain has begun to be removed further with Freshgoods revealing our first proper look at his upcoming release with New Balance. The first came in the form of a sneak peek of a section of the toe box. Showing a terracotta orange colour mesh under tan suede panels and a clean gum sole. 

Following this, a clear image of the back of the sneaker has been revealed by the designer. Continuing with the tan suede wrapping around the upper and heel with mesh panelling throughout; the collaboration, as always, does not hold back on the details. 

With a ‘JFG’ logo in the style of the regular ‘NB’ logo at the top of the heel, the title of the new collection ‘Inside Voices’ can be seen stitched just below in light khaki green. Below this, is the standard 990 style plastic rim complete with ‘New Balance’ within it. Moving down, we see the clean colour blocking of green and beige finished off with the gum sole - this is our first look at the new collaboration and the new 9060 silhouette as a whole. 

While Joe Freshgoods has done an excellent job at keeping the release under wraps, drip-feeding those desperate to find out more, the full release is slated for April.
