Eminem Previews the Air Jordan 3 ‘Slim Shady’ PE’s at the Super Bowl

Sunday 13th of February saw the 56th annual Super Bowl where the LA Rams came out victorious. However, it was the part-time show that drew the attention of music and sneaker enthusiasts alike.

While there were performances from some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg, it was Eminem that had sneakerheads excited after spotting what he had on foot.

Eminem x Jordan 4 'ENCORE', 2017

Eminem seems to have hit a three-peat with his latest work with Jordan Brand. Following on from his ‘ENCORE’ Jordan 4s which were initially released in 2005, and later re-released in 2017 as a charity project with StockX to aid his foundation, ‘The Marshall Mathers Foundation’, as well as his better known Carhartt x Eminem x Air Jordan 4s, which were similarly released in 2015 to aid the foundation - the previous projects have both been met with incredible feedback and have since reached grail status.

Now, the latest Air Jordan 3 ‘Slim Shady’ will undoubtedly reach similar dizzying heights as their predecessors. With official images being released by the artist on his personal Instagram, the image has already reached a little under 2 million likes at the time of writing this, with news of the release spreading like wildfire.

Utilising the OG ‘Fire Red’ colourway with a supple, white leather upper in conjunction with the signature elephant print panels, standard with the Air Jordan 3, it’s the details that set the sneaker off as can be expected from an Eminem collaboration.

The sneaker sits atop an icy outsole with a clean white midsole broken up with hits of rich red. The regular Jumpman logo can be seen on the tongue of the right shoe while a large E is emblazoned on the left-hand side. On the inside of tongues, the Eminem ski mask is stitched on the left-hand side and the usual ‘Shady Records’ logo is located on the right foot; a usual addition in previous collaborations.

However, by far the best detail on the sneaker is the ‘Hello My Name is…Slim Shady’ sticker which is located on the heel tab of the shoe, referencing the music video for Em’s hit song from 2000 ‘The Real Slim Shady’.

While little is known about the PE sneaker currently, anticipation towards the possible wider release is intense making this an early contender for the sneaker of the year 2022.
